High School playoffs continued Friday with Thorndale taking on Shiner and Rouse taking on Brennan in quarterfinals games. The bulldogs and the Raiders were two of only three Central Texas teams left in the playoffs, and after two tough losses, (Rouse lost to Brennan 30-7, Thorndale lost to Shiner 14-10), Lake Travis remains the only team standing as of Friday night.
Lake Travis plays their quarterfinal game against A&M Consolidated Saturday afternoon, who took out Westlake earlier in the playoffs. If they hold on they'll be the only Austin-Area team to make it to the state semifinals.
The Texas Volleyball team however is happy to say they had no trouble moving along on their post-season path. The ladies defeated Texas A&M in the second round of the NCAA tournament 3-1, and advance to the sweet sixteen in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they'll play the winner of the Duke vs. American, which takes place Saturday.
As all those teams worked on prolonging their seasons, the Texas football team is hoping point their post-season in the right direction in their game against Baylor Saturday. Below freezing temperatures and chances of wet and windy weather to go along with the cold will greet the Bears and the Horns in Waco Saturday. Your YNN Sports team will be there in full to bring you all the action straight from their frozen lips before, during, and after the game that could determine a part-winner or outright-winner of the Big 12 Championship. We have a preview of that action and so much more in Friday's jam-packed episode of Your Sports Now.
