Austinites are doing particularly well when it comes to the website Kickstarter.
Kickstarter.com allows people to start creative ventures and basically bypass banks and angel investors to get their projects off the ground.
Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope says it's a simple process. “If I wanted to make a new game for phones or an app, I could put my idea on this website and people could maybe invest in my idea," he said.
According to Pope, more than 1,000 ventures from Austin have been featured on this site since it was established three years ago.
About 659 projects have received their requested funding, for a total of $8.2 million. Learn more about the website in this edition of “Business Now.”
